I recommend S&P 500 index funds. I recommend MUTF: VFIAX which is the Vanguard 500 Index Fund Admiral Shares. You should then look in to see if your employer has a 401(K) plan at work. If there is a matching amount, you always want to take the matching amount and then I recommend as well to invest in index funds.
