For 14 minutes shy of an hour, Ethan Klein spilled all the beans about DramaAlert’s Daniel, from his fallacious accusations of people as being a pedophile without legitimate proof, doxxing and SWATting people, and being incredibly insensitive and inconsiderate of people with mental illnesses. One of Ethan’s biggest points in the video was the suicide of Etika, a YouTuber who suffered from a mental illness. Ethan heavily referenced Daniel’s video where he interviewed Etika after he was detained and released because he had a manic attack. Ethan started and ended the video on his own personal beef against Daniel, where the latter claimed that money from Payday 2’s DLC designed in collaboration with h3h3 was used to pay for the Matt Hoss lawsuit (which is a different story altogether). As is ritualistic of YouTubers with beef, Daniel Keem came up with a video of his own the next day on DramaAlert, titled “H3h3 lies”. Sporting only 15 minutes and a promise of more, Daniel retaliated on Ethan’s video, going onto the issue of Etika’s suicide first and saying that he has changed his perspective of Etika for the better, even becoming close enough for Etika’s mother to text him after his death. Daniel said that his video heavily implied, if not insinuated, that he caused Etika’s suicide. Daniel also claimed that Ethan was a hypocrite, referencing a video clip where Ethan mocked FouseyTube, another YouTuber who suffers from a mental illness. Daniel ended the video on a seeming threat and an assurance of another video, which is yet to be posted as of this writing. The next day, h3h3Productions put up another video titled “Nuclear Fallout - Keemstar,” containing almost 20 minutes of rebuttal against DramaAlert’s “H3h3 lies”. Now using the latest video as reference material, Ethan defended himself (also through Twitter) against the accusation that he implied Daniel caused Etika to suicide. Ethan also utilized the video to add more proof to the arguments he made in his first video. To carefully inspect this feud, we need to put out some facts about the two parties. Daniel Keem is the current host of DramaAlert, a YouTube channel dedicated to talking about rumors, gossip, and other major news surrounding mainly prominent YouTube celebrities. The nature of such a channel entails picking up nasty information about big names in the platform, heavily sensationalizing these rumors regardless of its truth. Because of this and the channel’s huge viewership, there have been many instances where people were wrongly accused, experiencing a sudden surge of backlash and hate. Checking the other videos in the channel, we can easily say that it is more of a tabloid rather than an actual news channel, as it claims. Ethan Klein, on the other hand, is one of the hosts of h3h3Productions, a YouTube channel that often satirizes internet culture and creates reaction videos. Although this puts his channel in a position with very little tendency to create a major controversy, his satire is bound to target someone with a high-key presence in the Internet. With a past that would put their relationship on the line between being outright enemies and being tolerant of each other, Keemstar found himself the main talk of h3h3 for now... ...Ethan’s video, compared to Daniel’s, was obviously well-researched and made. Laced with the satire he’s known for, he started to “cancel” Keemstar, and with the points he stated in his videos, you would definitely agree with him, and the 500 thousand people who liked the first video. Looking through Keemstar’s history and his reputation among fellow citizens of the Internet, it is definitely easier to side with Ethan; Daniel has been indeed in a vicious cycle of “cancelling” other people by exposing them, throwing groundless accusations and producing content that often compel viewers to attack the person (whether or not he explicitly tells them to act is irrelevant; exposing controversial information is bound to activate the Internet’s keyboard warriors, a fact that, honestly, should be part of the considerations for any channel that attempts to deliver “news”).
