In the middle of the Atlantic there’s an island that has zero natural resources, sits totally isolated, and is a literal bullseye for Hurricane Alley. Geographically, it should be a desolate rock that we collectively ignore. But instead, it’s an incredibly wealthy country with over 60,000 people. Why? Because this tiny island placed billion-dollar bets on the world’s worst natural disasters.
